Subtraction-ism: The art of taking away to gain

What if…this new year, rather than adding more, you (we) identify what to remove. Here are a few ideas:

  1. The snooze button
  2. Sugar
  3. Alcohol
  4. A toxic relationship
  5. The litany of ‘should’ statements in our self-talk
  6. Fear of feedback
  7. Fear of uncertainty
  8. Facebook or Instagram
  9. Texting rather than calling
  10. Living like we will die of ‘old age’ and have all the time in the world to do what we really want to do with life, play with our kids, take that vacation

When we subtract something from our lives, we make room for what we desire more, whether it be connection, time, or…simply…living. Cheers to a 2018 that has less of what holds us back and more of what helps us thrive.

As Derek Sivers coined “It’s either ‘Hell, yeah’ or ‘no'”. https://sivers.org/hellyeah

This year, clean the closet (so to speak) and get rid of the habits, thoughts, commitments, relationships that are not your ‘hell yeah’s’ and make room for those that are.
